Soul Patch
Friday, July 24, 2009
With it's current line-up formed in early 2006, Soul Patch is a
Traverse City, MI based band with music as versatile as its members.
Together we hold a masters in groove. Individually we infuse styles
from several backgrounds including, world beat, jazz, reggae,
bluegrass, funk, surf, rockabilly, ska, blues, and straight up rock n’
roll. We never write a set list but are always prepared to feel our
audience and bring them something they can move to. Our shows are
constantly taking on a new form that is inspired on the spot by the
borderless space between the band and the listeners. We play songs with
purpose but are not afraid to improvise. We play covers from all over
the musical world, Motown to modern and everything in between, always
making them our own for a fresh unique delivery. Our original music
spans three decades and can only be described as eclectic, taking ideas
from any one of the three songwriters in the band and plugging them
into the musical vessel that is Soul Patch. The output is a sweet ride
of Organic grooves for your mind and feet. Look for us all around the
great state of MICHIGAN OR where ever you see the name SOUL PATCH, 'cuz
we'll probably be there. Let the positive vibration touch you all today
and thanks for readin'!
Peace, Love and Joy,
SP

Soul Kast
Friday, August 14, 2009
Soulkast's origins
begin with the friendship and duet of Chris Steffke and David Crater.
Talented singers and songwriters, Dave and Chris formed Fullcast and began
peforming non-standard cover songs and also writing harmoninc
originals.
June 2008, Andre
Kuschell joined the group through a mutual friend and began playing
keyboard. Later that Fall, the band welcomed Paul Conant on Bass, and in
the Winter of 2009 they acquired the very talented young drummer Jordan
Huggett.
The band's
focus is solid two and three part harmonies. They still enjoy playing
non-standard cover material and show their diversity by playing songs by Steely Dan,
Little River Band, Sublime, and the Bare Naked Ladies to name a
few.
As they have honed their musical
skills and tightened up their peformance, they have also written some original
music as well. In March of 2009, recorded their first demo CD at
Frontier Studios in Copemish. They look forward to continuing to expess their creative
talents for all to share.
